We offer a full brokerage service on a simple "no sale no fee" basis.
We offer support, advise and guidance for both vendors and purchaser throughout the boat sales process.
Our mission is to assist the availability of craft to existing enthusiasts and grow the market by encouraging new boat owners to take to the water with confidence and ease.
Before starting up the Boatshed office I ran a successful computer software house developing packages directed at Local Authorities, having sold this business the temptation was to start again, however the motivation/passion required wasn’t there, being in computing all my working life I decided at the age of 45, I really needed a change. Travel and things that facilitate travel like Boats, Cars, Planes and Trains (like most little boys) have always been a passion for me.
Taking a gap year I assisted Ouro Iates (rapidly growing boat dealer) in the Algarve for the summer of 2004, I was able to test the water in terms of the marine industry and in particular how it worked in Portugal. (Euro 2004, Football also a passion).
Originally purchasing a boat from Ouro Iates in 1997 and a holiday home close to Albufeira back in 1988, my knowledge and love of the Algarve region together with my desire to get out on the water at every opportunity, made this an obvious and appealing location.
My motivation for purchasing a boat in the Algarve was partly due to the ease of travel 2 ½ hours flight compared to 6 hours snailing it up and down the M6 to Lake Windermere, partly due to the impending restriction to 10 knots, (much of my early motor boating/water skiing experience had taken place on the lake), did I mention the comparison in rainfall and sunshine.
On my return to the UK in the Autumn of 2004 I discovered Boatshed.com who were offering franchise opportunities uncanny or feted the match was perfect. My brother has joined me in this venture, his background previously in graphic design he has strong communication skills and relishes the opportunity of a new challenge.
We are committed to the commercial success of the Albufeira marina and anticipate growing with it as a founder member, using its central location as a springboard to launch further outlets at other marinas on the Algarve.
